Dua Before Eating

2 adhkar in their Arabic wording from Hisn al-Muslim, with their English meaning.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

Bismillahir-rahmanir-raheem

Each dua: the Arabic, then a transliteration to help you say it aloud, then its meaning.

  1. ((إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ طَعَاماً فَلْيَقُلْ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، فَإِنْ نَسِيَ فِي أَوَّلِهِ فَلْيَقُلْ بسمِ اللَّهِ فِي أَوَّلِهِ وَآخِرِهِ)).

    Idha akala ahadukum ta'aman falyaqul bismillah, fa in nasiya fee awwalihi falyaqul bismillahi fee awwalihi wa akhirih.

    (When you are about to eat, you should say:(Bismil-lah.)and if you forget to say it before starting, then you should say (when you remember):In the name of Allah in it’s beginning and end.)

  2. ((مَنْ أَطْعَمَهُ اللَّهُ الطَّعَامَ فَلْيَقُلْ: اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيهِ وَأَطْعِمْنَا خَيْراً مِنْهُ، وَمَنْ سَقَاهُ اللَّهُ لَبَناً فَلْيَقُلْ اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيهِ وَزِدْنَا مِنْهُ)).

    Man at'amahullahut-ta'ama falyaqul: Allahumma barik lana feehi wa at'imna khayran minh, waman saqahullahu labanan falyaqulllahumma barik lana feehi wazidna minh.

    (Whomever Allah feeds, should say:(O Allah, bless it for us and feed us better than it.) and whomever Allah gives milk to drink should say:(O Allah, bless it for usand give us more of it.))
